About this place

La Viña is the most characteristic quarter of Cádiz, between La Caleta and the old town, and Calle Virgen de la Palma is its axis of bars and taverns. Many of Carnival’s chirigotas and comparsas were born here, and people eat the way locals do.

Try the shrimp fritters (tortillitas de camarones), fried fish (pescaíto frito), marinated dogfish (cazón en adobo), dressed potatoes (papas aliñá) and an ice-cold fino or manzanilla. Many places serve standing up, tapa by tapa, so it is best to go in a group and order a little at each stop.

In good weather, finish the walk at La Caleta to watch the sunset.
