About this place

San Sebastián Castle sits on an islet at the end of La Caleta, and you reach it by walking along a narrow causeway between the sea and the beach. It is an irregular fortress that watched over the entrance of the bay and is topped by Cádiz’s lighthouse.

The walk to the end, with the Atlantic on both sides, is one of the prettiest in the city, especially at sunset. Access to the castle and the causeway depends on sea conditions and any works or events: check with the tourist office before you go.
