About this place

Santa Catalina Castle was built in the late 16th and early 17th centuries, after the Anglo-Dutch fleet sacked Cádiz in 1596, to a design by the engineer Cristóbal de Rojas. Its pentagonal plan with bastions made it one of the modern defences of the bay.

Today it is a cultural venue with exhibitions and concerts, and from its terraces you can see La Caleta, San Sebastián Castle and the Atlantic. It sits on the natural walk between the old town and La Viña.

Check opening times and activities with the tourist office: they vary by season.
