About this place

La Caleta is the old town’s beach, a sandy cove between the castles of Santa Catalina and San Sebastián. At low tide the rocks and pools appear, and at sunset the beach fills with people who come to watch the sun drop into the Atlantic.

On the beach stands the Balneario de Nuestra Señora de la Palma y del Real, from 1926. La Caleta has also been on screen: the famous scene of Halle Berry coming out of the sea in “Die Another Day” was filmed here.

When the Levante blows hard, La Caleta and Santa María del Mar are among the most sheltered beaches; with a cool Poniente it is a lovely place for a walk. Check the weather on the home page before you go.
