A calm city beach by the promenade, known as “the women’s beach” and well sheltered from the Levante.
About this place
Santa María del Mar is the urban beach closest to the old town after La Caleta. It has light sand and calm water with a very local atmosphere, hence its other name, the “Playita de las Mujeres” (the women’s little beach).
Because of its orientation, it usually copes better than others on Levante days. It has a promenade, showers and beach bars nearby in season.
It is a good alternative when La Victoria is crowded or the wind is a nuisance.
