About this place

The Gran Teatro Falla, on Plaza de Fragela, opened in 1905 and is one of the most recognisable buildings in Cádiz thanks to its red-brick, neo-Mudéjar-inspired façade. It has carried the name of the Cádiz-born composer Manuel de Falla since 1926.

It is the stage of the Official Carnival Group Contest (COAC), which every winter fills its seats with chirigotas, comparsas, choirs and quartets, and it also hosts the Spanish Music Festival and a year-round programme of theatre, music and dance.

Walking around the square and admiring the building is free; to go inside, check the programme and tickets on the theatre’s website.
